British Athletic League Division 3
That our team were able to achieve 6th
position out of 8, and avoid relegation, is a highly creditable
achievement, considering that, as a result of an excellent performance
at the Southern Mens’ League promotion match in 2008, the team was
promoted from Southern Mens’ to Division 3 of the BAL, by-passing
Division 4. The results from Division 4 show that BAC would have done
very well in that division, and furthermore that the teams relegated
from Division 2 are going to find BAC tough competition. See

Southern Women’s League Division 1
Our team was promoted this season from Division 2,
and the objective this season was primarily to avoid relegation. It is
pleasing to report that this was achieved, though it was a close run
affair. The team finished 13th out of 16 teams, and even
after the last match, because of some rather complicated permutations,
it wasn’t clear what the position was. However, it was eventually
confirmed that the team remains in Division 1. See
www.swtfl.co.uk for more information.

Southern Men’s League Division 3W
This team was plagued throughout the season with
fixture clashes resulting, on one occasion, on only three athletes
representing the club. On the other hand, at another fixture which was
well attended, the team came second on the day. However, it was
inevitable that the team wouldn’t be able to avoid relegation to
Division 4, and so it proved to be. There doesn’t appear to be a
website covering this league, and it has proved impossible to find a
final table, but some information is available at
www.sussexbarn.co.uk.

National Young Athletes League Southern 1 West
This team, composite with Poole Runners, had a
highly successful season, winning every single fixture and, as a result,
is rewarded with promotion to the Southern Premier League. More
information can be found at
www.natyal.co.uk, including the fixtures
for 2010, which appear to be May 2, May 16, June 20 and July 18.

National Junior Athletic League Itchen Division
It isn’t easy to glean any information other than
is already on the BAC website, but it appears that our team (composite
with Poole Runners) finished the season mid-table. Their website –
www.juniorathleticleague.co.uk – does give
the fixture dates for 2010, namely 18 April 23 May, 27 June and 25
July. At times it was a struggle to field a full team, but,
nevertheless, its valiant efforts of the team must be acknowledged.

It has been a busy season for BAC and its athletes!!
Thanks are due to all the team managers, officials, organisers and
helpers, without whom none of this would happen, but thanks and
congratulations are also due to all the athletes who took part, whether
winners or not, without whom the organising would be a waste of time!
