Bournemouth Athletic Club

The primary league that Bournemouth AC enters is the Dorset Road Running League which takes place throughout the whole year. In addition there are many other local, national and international races in which the members participate, including marathons.

To improve your fitness, train for a specific distance or set those PBs rolling, then training with the distance runners at Bournemouth AC could help you achieve those goals. We have a mixture of abilities, junior, senior and veteran runners to guide and encourage athletes along the way.

There is a special membership fee of £25 which covers road running and cross-country.

Training with the club is completely free of charge (a small fee applies when using the track) and we meet at Kings Park Athletic Stadium, Bournemouth.

Training times are as follows:

Tuesdays 6pm  - Usually and efforts/intervals session
Thursdays 6pm - Usually a hills session or tempo run

Other training runs take place starting at locations other than Kings Park - normally Wednesday (6.30 pm) and Saturday (9 am) from the Littledown Centre for 7 or 10 mile runs, and a long run over the Purbecks on Sunday mornings, catching the 9 am ferry from Sandbanks.  Further details of these runs can be obtained on a Tuesday or Thursday evening at Kings Park.

Bournemouth AC take part in the Dorset Road Race League (RRL). There are 12 races per year over a variety of distances.  Expect 6 shortish races (less than 10 miles), 5 races of 10 miles / half marathons and one long race.

Where possible the races are spread across the county and the whole year.

The men and ladies compete as separate teams. 5 men make up a men's team and 3 ladies make up a ladies team. The overall team scores at the end of the season are based on the best 7 out of 12 races.

There is also a league for individuals based on the same 12 races and again the final positions are based on the best 7 out of the possible 12 races.
