Blackmore Vale Half Marathon - 5th February 2012
The heavy snow threatened for Sunday 5 February failed to materialise, and the Blackmore Vale Half Marathon was able to proceed, in near perfect conditions for running - temperature above freezing, virtually no wind, and even, from time to time, a glimpse of the sun! BAC's resources were split between this race and the Chichester 10k, so the outcome was never going to be certain, but, in the event, the BAC Mens' team won the race itself, and was also the first Dorset Road Race League team (to be confirmed - see the League website www.dorsetrrleague.co.uk), BAC's two ladies were Dorset's first and second, and there were a number of PBs into the bargain.
Steve Way was the outright winner of the race, closely followed in third and fourth places by Jacek Cieluszecki and Duncan Wells (who ran his fastest half for some years), to complete the open race team, and the League team was completed by Club Captain Simon Munro, making a welcome return from injury, and Paul Consani, who achieved a PB on a course which is definitely not a PB course! Steph Slade was the third lady overall, and the first in her age group, and Janie Chapman, who finished seconds behind Steph, also ran a PB. The BAC contingent was completed by Ian Graham, who also ran his fastest half for several years, and Club Chairman Dave Parsons, who was pleased to knock some four minutes off his target time. Another result worth noting was Marco Consani, Paul's brother visiting from Glasgow, who was sixth in a time of 78.38.
